Bathroom Lighting
Just as with any room of the house, bathroom lighting can create mood and ambience. For some people, all they want is light by which to see but other people enjoy a soft glow, creating a room of relaxation and tranquillity. Today, bathroom lighting along with many other hardware options flourish. The possibilities are endless and the results stunning.
You will find some types of bathroom lighting designed for task. In this case, you can see to shave, apply makeup, and do your hair. Other types of lighting include recessed or canned above the bathtub or shower and then overhead lighting that is used to illuminate the entire room. For these three primary types of bathroom lighting, you then have an almost endless selection of designs, sizes, colours, style, glass, and finishes.
Today, bathroom lighting is much more than just lighting. In fact, lighting is now considered a part of the decorum, enhancing a room and adding character. Bar lights are still among the most popular. These lights are a series of small bulbs that are mounted onto a metal bar. This bar then attached to the wall above the countertop and sink. Bar lights are extremely versatile and depending on the style you choose, some have shades that are designed upwards or downwards, which changes the way the light bounces off the countertop or the ceiling.
Many times, bar bathroom lighting will have two to six shades, which are stretched out over one or two sinks. The shades come in many different styles such as translucent, frosted, or clear. Then the bar and other metal parts of this type of bathroom lighting are also available in a number of metals and finishes. For example, you will find brass, copper, stainless steel, and nickel. For finishes, there is polished, brushed, and antique, all gorgeous.
Another type of bathroom lighting is the globe, which has been around for years. Globes are literally, what they sound, round, white glass bulbs that completely encase the actual light bulb. Globe lighting is affordable, simplistic, and looks nice. If you want a light that is strong, wide, and diffused, then this would b a great choice. Globes can be the primary fixture in the bathroom or, you might find them installed above the vanity or sink, or even added to create a little bit of fun and whimsy.
Recessed, bathroom lighting is probably the most popular type of light you will see. This lighting fixture illuminates the entire room. Recessed lighting can be installed with full light or with a dimmer switch. Just remember that bathrooms have a lot of moisture. Therefore, you want to choose appropriate bathroom lighting that is made specifically for bathrooms.
With so many great choices, you can dress the room up or down. You can use hanging lights to create a soft, sophisticated look, go with the popular recessed lighting that works well with anything, choose from sconces on either side of the mirror, a soft, inviting look, or bar lighting. The only thing is to have the lighting installed so the wiring would not be affected by the moisture in the room.
