Bathroom Mirror
When shopping for a new bathroom mirror, chances are you will be surprised by the vast array of choices. Today, there are many applications to include counter, table, scissor extension, wall mounted, heated, freestanding floor models, and even magnifying bathroom mirrors. Each type of mirror serves a slightly different purpose and in fact, some people will have more than one mirror in the bathroom. For example, they may have a wall-mounted mirror as the primary accessory and then a magnifying mirror for makeup application.
Typically, all bathrooms have a bathroom mirror. However, the style is what is so unique from one home to the next. For instance, you will find beautiful oval shaped mirrors with ornate detailing. This type of bathroom mirror with two beautiful sconces on either side looks wonderful, adding a touch of class. You could also choose a wood framed, rectangular shaped bathroom mirror, which is not as elegant. This type of mirror would look gorgeous in a traditional or transitional bathroom.
For a contemporary room, you might choose a bathroom mirror without any frame. A large round mirror would look gorgeous. Of course, no matter what type of main bathroom mirror you choose, you want to complement it with the right style of lighting. In addition to sconces, which are among the most popular, you can also choose from bar lighting that looks wonderful installed over the top of the bathroom mirror.
For this type of bathroom mirror, installation is a breeze. All you need to do is use a pencil to draw a line at the point where you want the top of the mirror to sit. Then, if you plan to hang a square or rectangular shaped mirror, if you can, hold the bathroom mirror against the level line so you can use the pencil to outline the corners. We recommend you use a laser level, which makes the job of getting the position straight much easier.
Next, you want to use the corner marks you just made as your reference point, marking the location where you will place the bathroom mirror clips. Typically, there are two per corner. Now, you want to drill a pilot hole, driving a plastic screw anchor at each mark by using a hammer. You will now start at the bottom, screwing in the mirror clips. Then, set the mirror down gently onto the clips, attaching the rest of the clips to the sides and top. Chances are you will need someone to help you with holding the bathroom mirror.
Remember, the wall-mounted bathroom mirror is just one of many styles. If you want, you can even add a smaller mirror by the door or on a small wall as an accent piece. For people with brick walls or limited wall space, floor or countertop bathroom mirrors are also popular. These come in a number of sizes and finishes so there is something to go with any room décor. For instance, if your bathroom has brushed nickel or copper fixtures, you could choose a bathroom mirror with the same finish.
Because bathroom mirrors fog up due to hot baths and showers, you can even purchase a mirror defogger. This electrical device is an ultra thin heater pad, which actually adheres to the mirror. Wired to your normal bathroom fixture, separate switch, or fan, you turn the pad on to heat up. This helps prevent condensation on the surface of your bathroom mirror so you can see clearly should another person be sharing the room with you.
