Bedroom Mattress

Bedroom MattressA mattress is a mattress - right? Wrong! Years ago, you would go out, choose between three, possibly four mattress styles and that was it but today, you will find incredible choices. Considering the average person sleeps one-third of his or her life, you need a good mattress. Interestingly, no other piece of furniture in the home has such an impact on health than the bed. Therefore, when you shop for a new mattress, you want to choose the one that meets your personal demands.

Obviously, we all need sleep. During this time, our bodies have the time to repair and rejuvenate. When you do not sleep well because of a mattress that is too hard or too soft, you do not get adequate sleep. The result is increased pain, fatigue, depression, moodiness, lack of concentration, and more. Even the spine benefits from a good mattress. The mattress on which you sleep will make all the difference in the world when it comes to quality sleep. If you have a mattress without proper back support, you will likely experience muscle fatigue and poor sleep. On the other hand, a good mattress will provide you with proper spine alignment, allowing your body to rest in a natural position.

When buying a new mattress, you want to look for several specific things. First, you need to consider the type of mattress. For this, you will find foam, flotation, innerspring, air, and new adjustable mattresses. The innerspring mattress usually offers the most variety as far as support and firmness but there are advantages to each type. The new sleep number mattress is a hot seller, allowing two people in the same bed to choose the softness or firmness wanted on their side of the bed. With the push of a button, the mattress firmness changes to what feels best on your body.

Another consideration when buying a mattress is the foundation, otherwise known as the box springs. Now, some bed types such as the platform bed do not use box springs but most do. The foundation mattress is what provides the support, doing the majority of the work if you will. This part of the bed absorbs both weight and stress. When buying the foundation mattress, you want to choose one that will help extend the life of your top mattress.

Next, you need to think about firmness with your new mattress. For this, it used to be that the firmer the better but not so today. The goal with any mattress is to support the body so you get a good night sleep. If the mattress is too firm, you will end up with uneven support. If the mattress were too soft, it will likely sag, not providing the right alignment. Therefore, test mattresses out before making your final choice.

Finally, comfort should be at the top of the list when it comes to choosing a mattress. When you shop, actually lay down on the mattress to see how it feels. Turn over, lie on your back and your stomach, testing it out. Then, choose a mattress that is large enough for you and/or a spouse. Again, you want to be as comfortable as you can. The good news is that with so many awesome choices, you will have a number of excellent selections.
